Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)
ICSI or Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection is the most successful treatment for men who are infertile and are used in almost half of the IVF treatments. ICSI only requires the sperm, which is injected directly into the egg. The fertilized egg (embryo) is then transferred into your uterus (womb).
Before a sperm fertilizes an egg, the head of the sperm must attch itself with the egg. After which the sperm is pushed inside the egg. Sometimes this may not happen due to lack of sperm quality, deformed sperm or slow moving sperm. This is where ICSI helps.
Fetus IVF Centre provides the best ICSI treatments for infertile couples.
Why does one need ICSI?
- If someone is using donor sperm.
- Unexplained Infertility.
- If someone is suffering from endometriosis.
- Mild male factor infertility.
- Cervical Factor Infertility.
- Ovulation issues.
- Semen allergy.
How do you prepare?
• Firstly the male partner is supposed to produce a sample of the semen. Sometimes semen does have certain elements which can interfere with the fertility treatments. So the sperm or semen sample will be washed to procure the best sperm sample which is further used in the process.
• In the IUI process the timing is crucial. Assessing the exact time during which your body will go through ovulation. If the fertilized egg is placed before or after the preferred time, then it may lead to failed cycle.
• After the doctor assess the correct time, the embryo will be placed inside the uterus with the help of a catheter. This method bypasses the fallopian tubes. So if you have a blockage there, IUI will bypass it.
