Pre-Implantation Genetic Screening

PGS (Pre-Implantation Genetic Screening) is an IVF system intended to look at your embryo for chromosomal irregularities. An embryo biopsy is taken either at day 3 or day 5 and each of the 24 chromosomes are inspected the 22 non-sex chromosomes in addition to the two sex chromosomes (X and Y) on schedule for your embryo transfer. PGS targets further developing pregnancy and live rates of birth by evaluating your embryos for chromosomal irregularities.

Pre Implantation Genetic Screening

How do you prepare?

  • Egg & Sperm Preparation: The female partner undergoes ovarian stimulation to produce multiple eggs, which are then retrieved. The male partner provides a sperm sample, which is processed to select the best quality sperm for fertilization.

  • Embryo Biopsy & Chromosomal Screening: After fertilization, embryos are cultured for a few days. A few cells are removed from each embryo and tested for chromosomal abnormalities, ensuring only healthy embryos are selected.

  • Embryo Selection & Transfer: Only chromosomally normal embryos are chosen for implantation. The selected embryo is transferred into the uterus to increase the chances of a successful pregnancy.
